and i swallow the acid that collects in the sides of my mouth
it's hot and clear and bubbling like a geyser
so my eyes start to water
and you say "calm down, lady" and wink at me
even though my pulse is slower than a dead cat's

you say you're going to do what you love
(and that your friends are really proud and wish they were doing the same)
and place all your eggs in one basket
but all i can wonder is
where are the eggs?
